Shawn Stern has been a teacher at Ilwaco High School, a small rural school in the most southwestern corner of Washington State, for 27 years. He taught science before earning his Career and Technical Education CTE certification. He currently teaches AP Computer Science Principles and Computer Game Programming and serves as his district CTE Director. He started an afterschool NASEF esports program in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. He launched an esports themed CTE course this year that explores esports related careers including streaming games, software development, theory crafting, event organizing and marketing. Students in this course receive English credit.
